Elephant Garlic Rounds

Elephant garlic takes on multiple forms before it matures into a large bulb with multiple cloves. Elephant garlic corms are small hard seeds that, when planted, produce a round garlic bulb (often called a round) after the first year. These "rounds" consist of a single round bulb, similar to an onion or leek. It has the same flavor and can be used for cooking in the same way as the typical cloves would be used. However, if planted, the rounds will become full bulbs with multiple cloves.
 
Elephant garlic can be planted at two different times of the year: spring and autumn. In warmer areas, it can be grown over winter for a late-spring harvest.
